My name is Adam Bohannon and I am a post-undergraduate student with a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Kansas State University. I currently contract for Sun Microsystems as an instructional designer where I research social and mobile learning as well as the potential of virtual worlds and how to leverage social media for educational purposes.

Though I just recently graduated, I have a strong desire to continue my education after a minor hiatus, during which I plan to pursue some of my niche interests.  My research interests include Latin American shamanism, indigenous rights and sovereignty, symbolism & ritual, media & communication, learning & education, and the impact of communication media on culture and identity. Recently, I finished preliminary research on the expression and formation of identity with respect to Internet-mediated environments under the supervision of my adviser, Michael Wesch.

I am also interested in digital ethnography. I am part of a working group of researchers conducting an ethnographic study of the online video sharing website YouTube.  By extension, we are also interested in the topography of the mediascape as a whole. My particular focus is on the structures of online environments and their effects on social interaction, community development, and identity formation on and offline.

As well, I do some consulting for Diigo where I assist in evaluating alpha software and create videos showcasing their services.
